Review: MET Gala 2016

So the Costume Institute Gala or simply known as the Met Gala to many people, is definitely one of the most anticipated fashion events on the calendar. However, it is safe to say I was absolutely disappointed with this year’s fashion. The theme for this year’s exhibition and overall evening was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” as announced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. So basically the focus was fashion meets technology along the lines of futuristic and different, got it? Cool. Great. So it’s safe to say that at this year’s event no one necessarily stuck to theme or tried to be daring, it was so boring!

In MY opinion some of the looks were redundant and just over-done, we get it Balmain is the Kardashian clan’s ‘it’ fashion label at the moment, but I’m sure their outfits could have been much more creative and mesmerising. They have definitely worn better outfits in the past i.e. the Yeezy Season 3, just saying. The men were just as disappointing, but at least Will.I.Am and Zayn did sort of dress up to the theme besides the fact that Will.I.Am looked like he just came off the set of his latest music video. As for Zayn’s robotic arms I’ll give him an ‘A’ for effort.

There could have been so much done with this theme but no one was futuristic, fashion-forward or daring with their looks. Sigh, where was Rihanna when you needed her, I’m sure she would have showed us how it was meant to be done. However I did have some favourite looks from the night and here they are:

    • Yeah I agree with you Precious, I loved her simplicity. I only realised after I compiled my list that Kendall was actually bomb diggity. But it is a standard agreement, that Claire killed the game.👏🏾
