10 Reasons To Love And Celebrate Being A Woman

Being a woman can be tough sometimes, we are always having to prove ourselves to the world. People constantly try rain on our parade and bring us down, but they forget that we are indestructible and hard as a rock, so we cannot be easily taken down. God made us people with super-natural powers to conquer the world in skyscraper heels and still manage to survive labour pains.

For some of my readers who may not know today is National Women’s Day in South Africa a public holiday that is celebrated annually on 09 August. It is a day that commemorates when over 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings to protest against ‘pass laws’ in 1956. Women of all races came together in unity to protest this law and stood together as a sisterhood fighting for the rights and freedom of black South Africans. A phrase from one of the protest songs sang by the women “wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo” (you strike the women, you strike the rock) has become an iconic statement for South African women representing their strength and courage, however, this statement is iconic for every woman who is the boss of her own life.

5 Interior Design Tips For A Productive Workspace

Having a productive workspace is important for anyone who prefers working from home or works at home. I try to at least to update and re-design my workspace three times a year by rearranging my desk, the decor and the colour scheme.

This year for my post-graduate year I moved into a small, one-man place and my first impression of this place was pretty disappointing, it had a very cold and unwelcoming atmosphere. I knew right then and there that MY personal touch was much needed since I would be living in this place for a whole year. It needed to be a place I love, because I would be coming home to it everyday. Finding inspiration to redesign my new home was so difficult at first and my budget also didn’t allow me to create my home the way I had envisioned it.

My Internship Experience & Tips For You

First of all I would like to apologise for my sudden absence from blogging. I was in Cape Town for a short while working and learning under the amazing team of Marie Claire South Africa, and it was definitely one of the best experiences of my life, so far. Even though I was in the beautiful city for work related reasons I did manage to sneak in some fun and luxury time which I will share with you later this week.

It’s a Grey Matter: The Dos and Donts of Athleisure

Athleisure is the latest fashion trend that is taking over the world and is easily become a crowd favourite for all fashion lovers. It is a fun, fashionable and comfortable style to rock and play around with as a casual look. The style athleisure is all about transforming activewear clothing into everyday outfits that are perfect for the office, lunch dates or for running errands.

I am not really a girl who follows trend, but some trends are undeniably hard not to follow especially when they fit perfectly with my everyday life. I can’t stop wearing my grey two-piece that was a gift from my father while he was on a business trip in China. The shorts are so comfortable to work out in and as soon as I’m done with my daily workout, I simply throw on the top and the look is performance wear ready for the day ahead. To make the look more fashionable I pair it up with a leather jacket and a simple watch, I don’t think there is a need to over accessorise with this type of style.

Details of my look

Grey two-piece : DGNR | Leather jacket: Traffic Live | Choker: Topshop | Watch: Bering | Black sunglasses: Cotton On | Gold reflectors: Utopia on Ebay | Shoes: Adidas Yeezy Boost 350

5 Items You Should Carry In Your Handbag

Deciding what to carry around with you in your daily bag can be one of the most difficult decisions you have to make. To be honest you’ve probably convinced yourself that everything is important from the two pairs of sunglasses to the extra pair of earphones when you only need one pair of everything, because in reality you don’t need all that extra weight in your handbag.

I am guilty of this behave as well, but I seem to be getting better, the more I learn about what I need and don’t need. I thought I would share with you some items I think you should carry so that you have a lighter and more convenient handbag. You should focus on carrying daily essentials which you’ll probably use on an everyday basis.

DIY: Makeup Setting Spray

You know when you apply your makeup and it is just on point, but then you don’t have setting spray to keep that radiant look throughout the day. Well I decided to make my own makeup setting spray, so I can save money to buy more makeup. I did this by reading different articles and researching what works best and what doesn’t. I finally found a method that I think works well which I’ll be using for as long as I am wearing makeup.

The secret ingredients are just roses and glycerine, I have been using my home-made makeup setting spray for about two weeks now and I must say it works like any other setting spray. I was rather impressed with the results because my makeup did last for a while on my face. So I have decided to share this newly home-made, life-changing DIY with all you beautiful people. Even if you don’t wear makeup on the regular, you can use the spray as a mist to keep your face hydrated in all seasons.

Ingredients

  1. One rose ( preferably from a garden.)
  2. Water.
  3. *Glycerine
  4. A spray bottle.

*For my South African readers you can find glycerine at Clicks stores for only R15.95 and you can use glycerine for almost anything, this little bottle is pretty magical.

Tips On How To Deal With Anxiety

IMG_5002.JPG

Image taken from WeHeartIt.

Dealing with anxiety is no joke and I’m sure most people like myself deal with it. But some of us have just learned how to deal with our anxiety better than others. Anxiety makes you lose focus in everything you do whether it be schoolwork, work or recreational activities. We don’t all deal with the same kind of anxiety but whatever anxiety it is you can manage it. It takes time, but you will eventually get to the stage of being okay just don’t push yourself too hard.

Maintain a positive attitude: Try make an effort to suppress those negative thoughts when they resurface the mind. Anxiety tends to make you think worse of a situation, try not let that happen. Rather remain positive as much as you can and if that fails, over-exaggerate the situation (I know it’s pretty bizarre) so when it does happen you realise it is not as bad as your thoughts made it seem.
