Girls Day Out: Cave Wine-Tasting

Living in the Cape means a person is surrounded by dozens of wine-tasting experiences from luxurious MCC and macarons pairings, to safari wine-tastings and now on my list, wine-tasting experience in a cave.

In all honesty, Durbanville is one of the most underrated wine-tasting destinations in the Cape. The Durbanville Wine Valley is often outshined by the popular Constantia and Stellenbosch wine routes. But I would definitely suggest you do not overlook Durbanville, put it into your maps and pop into my new favourite hidden gem in the area.

Weekend Getaway: In the Jewel of Free State

The Clarens Wine Event is one of the most-loved wine events and is usually held from the 28th – 29th September annually. It is a wine tasting showcase with more than 20 wineries and distillers with a range of over 60 products to taste from all over the world. Yes, this also includes sparkling wines from Germany and Italy (I even had the privilege of tasting a red sparkling wine for the first time!)

If you’re someone who loves wine and wants the experience of tasting world-class wines then this is an event for you. During the last weekend of September (also the last week of travel/tourism month) we drove up to Clarens for the highly anticipated wine event hosted my Echo Wine Events.

Moments: A Sweet Picnic at The Farm Kitchen in Spier

A relaxing picnic on a lazy, sunny Saturday afternoon is always a great outing experience. It is even more of bonus when enjoyed on a beautiful lawn with a basket packed with fresh and delicious snacks.

Visiting beautiful wine lands around the Western Cape is always on my bucket list. However, I know, it’s getting colder but that doesn’t mean one still can’t live the picnic life. Even in the winter afternoons you can still enjoy the delightful garden views. One picnic spots I recommend for everyone to visit is the Spier Farm Kitchen.

Moments: At The Grand Africa Cafe & Beach

Since I moved to Cape Town I have had some of the best experiences – I discovered a new love for different cuisines. The city is filled with cafes, restaurants and bars for every mood and occasion. In the one year that I have officially lived in the city, I’ve continuously been finding new places that make me even more obsessed with this second home of mine. One of my goals for the blog this year and myself is to eat, travel and write more. So I will be sharing and documenting my travels and food experiences with you all. Let’s do this!

Exploring The Vineyard of Paarl

Cape Town is no doubt one of the most beautiful cities in South Africa. The beautiful view of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head is one I will never get tired of looking at when driving into the city. While in Cape Town I had the time to explore some of the hot spots of the city and dine out at some of the cutest restaurants and cafes. A cafe that I really enjoyed was ‘The Big Box’ a place where you can play any board game imaginable while you wait for your food, you’ll even forget you ordered food with the board games keeping you so entertained.

However the best thing I did manage to do while I was in Cape Town was go wine tasting. Being an enthusiastic fan of wine it wouldn’t have been right for me to have left the Western Cape without quenching my thirst.
