Detox Diary: Why You Need A Summer Skin Detox

Whenever your body tells you its feeling bloated, heavy and congested you’ve probably turned to a detox diet. The purpose of ‘detoxification’ is to help cleanse your body from waste, impurities and toxins to keep the body functioning at its best; to improve digestion and restore energy.

But how often do you do a skin detox? A skin detox is a great way to cleanse your skin and pores from impurities for a healthy and radiant glow. Pollutants and dirt from the environment can clog your pores, and toxins from your diet can cause your complexion to suffer.

Fortunately, Neutrogena has launched a skincare range AKA your skin’s new best friend, that specifically focuses on detoxing your skin; to help brighten your skin and reduce breakouts and hyperpigmentation.

In Full Bloom: Spring Style LookBook

Spring is officially here and I couldn’t be more excited! The sight of blooming flowers and sunshine makes everything so much more mesmerising. The fact that we can now pull out all the fun and lightweight clothing and finally say goodbye to heavy puffers, is a definite yes from me.

The off-the-shoulder trend is a spring fashion staple that everyone needs in their wardrobe this season. It is a statement piece that can be pulled off with anything from high-waisted jeans to mini skirts. I had so much fun rocking my off-the-shoulder top with a clean white pair of denims.

Outfit details: Off-the-Shoulder top: Legit | Denim jeans: Cotton On | Gold belt: Thrifted | Nude Strappy Heels: Rubi | Sunglasses: Mr. Price | Silver Mini Bag: Mr. Price

5 Skincare Swaps You Need To Make This Winter

While one part of the world is gearing up for summer, we are preparing for winter. It’s officially time to accept that the temperature is dropping which means snuggling, endless cups of tea and switching up the skincare routine. During the colder season I always layer on heavier skin products to avoid that ‘tight’ feeling on the skin.

My main skincare mission during the winter season is to protect my skin from loss of hydration that can lead to cracks and inflammation. If you’re someone with dry or combination skin type, like me. Here are some great ways to combat dehydration and dullness, by switching up your skincare routine, by using gentler and hydrating cleansers rather than exfoliating ones.

Moments: A Sweet Picnic at The Farm Kitchen in Spier

A relaxing picnic on a lazy, sunny Saturday afternoon is always a great outing experience. It is even more of bonus when enjoyed on a beautiful lawn with a basket packed with fresh and delicious snacks.

Visiting beautiful wine lands around the Western Cape is always on my bucket list. However, I know, it’s getting colder but that doesn’t mean one still can’t live the picnic life. Even in the winter afternoons you can still enjoy the delightful garden views. One picnic spots I recommend for everyone to visit is the Spier Farm Kitchen.

Moments: At The Grand Africa Cafe & Beach

Since I moved to Cape Town I have had some of the best experiences – I discovered a new love for different cuisines. The city is filled with cafes, restaurants and bars for every mood and occasion. In the one year that I have officially lived in the city, I’ve continuously been finding new places that make me even more obsessed with this second home of mine. One of my goals for the blog this year and myself is to eat, travel and write more. So I will be sharing and documenting my travels and food experiences with you all. Let’s do this!

The New Streetwear Chic

Early 2000s was the era of tracksuits with celeb stars like Paris Hilton and Kimora Lee Simmons seen rocking the fashion trend. The style has officially made a comeback as athleisure-wear with fashionistas wearing sweatpants and tracksuits at many occasions making it the new streetwear chic. Personally if I could, I would totally be wearing a pair joggers or tracksuit pants everyday! They are the ultimate answer to comfortability.

My current favourite tracksuit that I’ll probably be seen in this entire winter season is from Mr. Price. I was particularly drawn to this tracksuit by its colour and wide arm design on the tracksuit top. The tracksuit is from the Project collection that was recently launched by Mr. Price and it features a collection of fun, sporty and casual items.

Details about my look: Tracksuit – Mr. Price | Shoes – Superbalist | Earrings – Lovisa | Fishnet Stockings – Chinatown Store in Cape Town

Keeping It Slick In A Slip Dress

While it is still Summer in the beautiful city that is Cape Town, I plan to make the most of it and soak up the delicious sunshine. And what better way to strut the streets of Cape Town, but in a chic slip dress. The uniquely designed slip dress from Phoebe&Knox has definitely become one my favourite dresses at the moment. The dress is such a great fit, with material that is so comforting to the body.

When it does get too hot this is when we thank the heavens for the modern day style of slip dresses. Just to clarify for those who may not be 100% sure, slip dresses were originally worn as an under clothing garment to prevent the showing of intimate garments. However, now days most skirts and dresses come with lining underneath that it is not necessary for a person to wear a silky slip dress underneath their clothes. Instead it has now become norm for us to rock the dresses as a fashion expression.
