Girls Day Out: Cave Wine-Tasting

Living in the Cape means a person is surrounded by dozens of wine-tasting experiences from luxurious MCC and macarons pairings, to safari wine-tastings and now on my list, wine-tasting experience in a cave.

In all honesty, Durbanville is one of the most underrated wine-tasting destinations in the Cape. The Durbanville Wine Valley is often outshined by the popular Constantia and Stellenbosch wine routes. But I would definitely suggest you do not overlook Durbanville, put it into your maps and pop into my new favourite hidden gem in the area.

This Spring’s Perfect Shoe – The Block Heel

A girl’s best friend is apparently diamonds and I completely agree. However, I think a pair of comfortable and stylish block heels come to a close second.

When you find the perfect pair of heels that go well with every outfit it makes life and dressing up so much more fun and easier! Especially a pair of nude heels that immediately help to elongate your legs – making them look leaner and thinner.

Every person needs a pair of chic and stylish pair of block heels for the upcoming spring/summer season. I’m currently obsessed with my new addition of block heels from RUBI from their latest ‘The Nude Normal’ range. Here are some of my favourite style tips when it comes to styling a pair of flattering nude heels.

Keeping It Slick In A Slip Dress

While it is still Summer in the beautiful city that is Cape Town, I plan to make the most of it and soak up the delicious sunshine. And what better way to strut the streets of Cape Town, but in a chic slip dress. The uniquely designed slip dress from Phoebe&Knox has definitely become one my favourite dresses at the moment. The dress is such a great fit, with material that is so comforting to the body.

When it does get too hot this is when we thank the heavens for the modern day style of slip dresses. Just to clarify for those who may not be 100% sure, slip dresses were originally worn as an under clothing garment to prevent the showing of intimate garments. However, now days most skirts and dresses come with lining underneath that it is not necessary for a person to wear a silky slip dress underneath their clothes. Instead it has now become norm for us to rock the dresses as a fashion expression.

Current Lip Colours For The Summer

As Summer begins to approach in South Africa it means bright and bold lips will be making a seasonal comeback. It is the season that allows one to rock the sassiest lip colours and make a statement. After visiting The Body Shop I came across the most show-stopping and mesmerising matte lip colours that I can’t wait to rock during the Summer.

I’ve always been a fan of The Body Shop and their makeup, because of the cruelty free policy and how it treats my skin so well. The skincare store has recently launched its first matte lip liquid colours. The range includes 12 bright shades with each shade having a rich creamy colour.

Summer Style: Off-The-Shoulder

Summer has always been my favourite season followed closely by Spring. I just love how everything starts looking more alive as the days get warmer during this time of year from the makeup to the clothes. Trends are so much more fun to follow in Summer with everyone adding their own sense of unique style to a particular fashion trend i.e. the off-the-shoulder.

One of the biggest Spring/Summer trends that has undoubtedly made a mark in the fashion space is the off-the-shoulder style. This trend comes in some many styles either as a shirt, crop top, dress or jumpsuit you pick your choice of style. It has quickly become a definite fashion favourite for most fashionistas and stylists. I have even purchased quite a few cute and sexy off-the-shoulder items that I absolutely can’t wait to rock this coming Summer.

Details about the look:

Off the shoulder crop top – Mr Price | Jeans -Thrifted | Shoes – Legit

Earrings – Lovisa | Watch – Marc by Marc Jacobs

5 ‘Black Girl Magic’ Reminders That Solange Gave Us

The Knowles sisters have officially killed the music scene this year. I know you’re probably thinking, why am I writing a post about music. But I just could not pretend that Solange’s latest album did not change my life and make feel so good about being an unapologetically black woman.

Fans like myself have had to wait for four years for Solange to finally bless us with the masterpiece that is, ‘A Seat At The Table.’ If you haven’t listened to it yet, can I just ask you what are you waiting for? This album will permanently be on repeat for me that people will probably get sick and tired of hanging around me. It is an album for black women made by a black woman, how much more magical can it get?

Make A Statement In A Skirt

I’m not the type of girl who is into clothes that are heavily textured, printed or patterned. Instead I prefer keeping my sense of style very solid and minimal. However, once in a while you have got to buy that show-stopping item for your closet. It might be a risky buy at first, but it will surely turn heads when you walk by and that’s exactly how I feel about my ‘Alphabet’ statement skirt by South African designer Anisa Mpungwe for Mr Price.

5 Interior Design Tips For A Productive Workspace

Having a productive workspace is important for anyone who prefers working from home or works at home. I try to at least to update and re-design my workspace three times a year by rearranging my desk, the decor and the colour scheme.

This year for my post-graduate year I moved into a small, one-man place and my first impression of this place was pretty disappointing, it had a very cold and unwelcoming atmosphere. I knew right then and there that MY personal touch was much needed since I would be living in this place for a whole year. It needed to be a place I love, because I would be coming home to it everyday. Finding inspiration to redesign my new home was so difficult at first and my budget also didn’t allow me to create my home the way I had envisioned it.
